Yuna (wedding help!)

okay I have come to the problem..of the feathers on Yuna's dress..

Should I use....feathers..and put each one on
(mind you I'm using real feathers from birds )
or

Should I get a feather boa (s) and stick it on?

do you have any suggestions?

If you examine the dress closely, you may notice that all of the feathers appear to be straight and long, and extend straight forward from the hem of the dress. That seems to me to indicate that a boa, which is made from fluffy turkey flats all strung together in different directions, would not give the same look. It depends on how close to the game dress you want to look. If exact detail isn't one of your priorities, then a boa would work fine. If not, then you may want to look into individual feathers.

I'm actually taking the dress to a new height...I'm using a real wedding dress with beads and sparkly things on it. the wing are made from scratch... the wings curve right?
anyway..each feather..would be a good Idea? *ponders*

It's your personal choice. Individual feathers, stiffer than turkey flats (I'm using duck pointers) would give you a more accurate look. But if that isn't a priority for you, use whatever you think works best.

It should be done by Anime Boston. I was going to enter it in the masq, but given the current Yuna backlash I may skip it and just wear it for photos instead (I've made the train detachable so that I can take it off and not have to worry about it getting stepped on, but it still doesn't make a very good hall costume).

i suggest u use some fine white and not short feathers and make sure to stick them evenly because they might fall..hehehe...it's better if you'll stick it one by one so that it'll look more likely of yuna's wed costume.

Hello!!! *.* Yay one of my favorite costumes of all time~~~ What I did was, I got some lace trimming, maybe 2 inch lace trimming, and sewed it around the bottom hem of the dress, then i glued the feathers using hot glue onto the lacing. This way you won't ruin your dress! and if you need to take the feathers off you can just take the lace off.. I found this VERY useful cause when i made the dress, after I had just finished putting the entire feather trim, somebody accidentaly spillled Coke all over the back of my dress O.o So I had to run it to the laundry REALLY fast, so I seamed ripped out the lace and it saved lots of time and effort! Okay hope that helps : ) Can't wait to see pictures! I would like to help more if you need!

Actually, at some places now and days you can buy feathers that are already on an edging so that you can sew them right on. I used them as accents on a dress for a friend of mine. We got them at a trim warehouse that was part of a silk market. However, you can find them at Hancock fabrics back in the wedding stuff.
