A few posts up someone said props could only be up to 50 cm's, but, I found a gallery of cosplayers at TGS and there is an Auron who has a sword which could be up to 2m tall........

Is this restriction a new rule, incorrect or ??? ; ;

I guess they have the new rules this year. cause I was in TGS last few years and I also saw some cosplayers with prop.

Anyway there will be some stuff checking each cosplayer`s costume before they exit the dressing room, and they will take away any accessary or prop that does not fit the rules. troublesome.
Maybe there is someway to bring the prop? Maybe I will ask my friend to hold on my prop and handed it me after I exit the changing room?

I couldn't google anything about the rules for cosplaying, only a bunch of pictures showed up, but I'm sure there must be something in the previous tokyo game show websites, like--- Tokyo Game Show 2005
I dont know jap so i cant read it myself

That's my problem, the English site doesn't cover cosplaying.... I guess they assume only press will come? Well I don't think I'm going to be taking a sword although it would have been nice to have one being Byakuya I will have to save that for the next time I go somewhere as him I guess. ; ;

btw where would you be in tokyo game show? just outside of the building?

I think the cosplay area is just outside the halls....... I'm not sure if you can walk round the convention itself with costume on still. lol

Well my Shirayuki no osode is like 60cms..... >_>

And I read the site with my bad Japanese (I'm jp but I lived in UK so long I'm bad at japanese) and also tried babblefishing it and it says indeed, no props over 50cms in total length ; ;

And as for photos and cosplay area there is 2 halls you can cosplay and take photos in, nowere else.

And thank god they keep clothes in cloak room I don't have to walk around with it ^^;

Ele basically said all the rules stated on that site

I might go to TGS as well. I'm a guy tho =p but seems like I might go on a ride with my friend who works at an airport x_X My first trip to Japan! For only 3 days >_>;; btw I'm Chinese too ^_^ Too bad, I never went to Chinese school to learn Chinese characters >_>;; that would have helped so much with kanji and my Japanese knowledge -_-

Well, I'm definitely going to TGS, though maybe just for one day. I'll be with a tiny Gunner Yuna and I'll probably be dressed as Kino from Kino's Journey / Kino no tabi. My husband may or may not be with me taking pictures and I'm hoping my friend will come along with her little Summoner Yuna, though the grown-up doesn't have a costume...yet.

Say hi if you see me!

Oh, and does anyone know the rules for cosplaying at TGS? Is there a special area like at Comiket? I'm going back through the thread now so just ignore me if this question has already been answered.
