The elevators at the Marriott

Hi all,

I am looking into hotels to stay at for the Con, and when I mentioned the Marriot my friend said to me: "Oh no! Don't stay there! They only have 2 elevators and the wait is horrible!"

Granted, she stayed there maybe 2 years ago, so maybe things have changed...

Anyone have any info on the elevator situation at the Marriott?

Thanks!

....The con 2 years ago was located at a collage now it's at a real con center and the hotel right next to it is the Marriot. But there's always the stairs....lol

The discounted room rate was supposed to end on June 15, so if you didn't get it before then, it's the normal rate of like $249/night.

I got my room reserved for 169 a night last weekend. Also, according to some google research, the hotel was redone recently, so maybe this fixed the elevator problem (if there even is/was one)

The Marriott that's closest to the convention center IS NOT the same convention hotel as last year. The Marriott was still under construction during last year's ConnectiCon. It's a brand new hotel!

Last year's convention hotel was "Residence Inn by Marriott" and was located several blocks away.

...so I don't know which one you booked.

Very helpful information, PatrickD!

I booked the hotel that the Con website links to. It looks to me to be called the Hartford Marriott Downtown and not a Residence Inn. (the picture doesn't look very residencey either )

BTW I'm not sure if you saw my post at the ConnectiCon website, so just to be sure: You and your team did a wonderful job with A.B.

Clearly this will be the sequel to the Sam Jackson film.

Clearly this was a pretty modern boutique hotel if their were snakes on their elevators. Either that, or something was horribly wrong.

There's some #$@@@ snakes on this elevator!!! and Mystic Blossom's right. The elevator's voice was *coughs* really bordering on something indecent there.

My buddy JayJei got stuck in an elevator for two hours, thus making us unable to practice our skit . . . Ah well, we'll do it for another con and get it right this time. (We were the FF7 vs. 11.)

Those snakes are smart. They must have cut the wires.

With regard to the elevators,
1) I know I wasn't the only one who got seasick on those things.
2) The voice was very 2001: A Space Odyssey. Especially "lobby". I kept thinking it was gonna suddenly go, "you're mine", then snake wires out of the walls and eat me.
