Weapons Check

Hello, I am creating a Tasuki costume for my next con, and I'm wondering if i make the fan itself out of metal do you think that it would be considered a real weapon, and if not metal, any other material suggestions would be appreicated

I would contact the con were you are going to see if they would allow that.Some are more strict then others.I personally would be careful cause of what is going with possible terorrism.

Cardboard and foil are your best bet here, I'm guessing.

I was considering Tasuki once -- I'd use posterboard and silver spray paint so it'd be shiny. Metal would be horribly dangerous. ^_^;; Besides, with a (fake) tessen I'd be tempted to whack people on the head... but not if it was metal... KABAM. Yeah.

I say Foam....Its lightweight and If Fiberglass apoxy covers it with about 5 layers it would be just as strong as wood and metal You can get the Fiberglass apoxy at any fishing boat stores. The foam is called Owens Cornering foam ^-^ Good Example.........I've recently finished my emense transformed Tetsusaiga from the Inuyasha series, its my height (5' 4"), but only weighs 7 pounds

depends on the con i think. i know a friend of mine who has a metal fan...an she hasnt had any issues with it so far. i wouldnt suggest it a maybe a con like ax or katsucon though seems to be strict about such things

Ah yeah, foam too. Foam or posterboard. Something you can't injure people with. ^_^; I swear, the urge to smack people and go REKKA SHIEN will be strong.

Argh I want to plan Tasuki again. ;_;

corrugated plastic (like corrugated cardboard...just plastic instead). You can get some at any Kinko's (or I have some at my store, too, if you're Kinko-less ^_-) It is cuttable, holds up well to folding, and takes paint well.

Lilli made her Sanzo fan out of it...it makes an awesome THUMP! noise if you hit someone with it, but causes no damage to them.

XD I did I did use corrugated plastic. It takes paint and or tape well, too, whichever you want to use to paint it silver.

:3 It makes a rather lovely THUMP when it hits your head XD But does not inflict pain ._. Well. Not too much *evil*

The great and mighty trashcan!!!! My subsitute for metal for the year or so. Also wood sheets would work nicely.

Hey here's a question. Would using soda cans as raw materials consider the weapon be letal?
