I am very sorry for the triple post. There was somrthing wrong with my internet connection and whever I made a reply it would not reply and instead show a blank forum. Because the info I wrote wasn't saved each time, I had to write a new reply

hey sry for the lack of replying. I'm in Japan right now so I have to go to the internet cafe in order to do anything. I bought the uverworld timeless bandscore. I'm thinking of instead of doing a cover band, doing a original J-rock band.

Blah blah blah. So there's always ten thousand people who want a 'Jrock band' and nothing ever happens. >< And as previously stated, it can't really be JRock unless it's in Japan. xD; But in all honestly, a visual band would be fun.

Anyway, saying such, I'd be very interested in hvaing one. I've had goals and such for a long while now, with my cosplay group going around performing and such so we get practice, we're just not our own band. xX; I'm vocals btw (and I know bass, violin, keyboard, blah blah)... I also have a guitarist interested. We seriously want to get off the ground with this though, I write lyrics and such often. Colorado area, if anyone's serious, PM me or e-mail me (I don't have internet enough to check back on this).

Woot. xD

I don't think you should put a lable on yourself before you even start the band. You can't be "jrock" without being japanese, that is what I think. When Dir En Grey or L'Arc~en~Ciel started out, I don't think they called themselves "jrock", they just decided to start a band, and they were japanese. People labeled them jrock after because they played rock, and were japanese. It's like the whole "emo" thing, where the bands started out as normal hardcore bands, but were labeled by their peers as emotive hardcore. Or like punk music, where it was a nameless movement, and then an magazine was started up about this movement. The name of the magazine was "punk", and the name was just associated with the bands it featured after.

in the long run the recording/music industries the one who decides what genre whatever you belong to. To me Jrock is basically any japanese music (pop, rock, punk, metal whatever). I just want to play music that represents my heritage.

Well, I want to start a japanese rock band. so if anyone knows how to speak japanese fluently and lives in or around ottawa Ontario. I play bass guitar, cello and sing. Currently learning guitar.
I am a do'er. When I want to start a band, ill make sure we have practices and all. I've tried being in 2 bands. the 1st one, they did nothing -__-. The second one we played at a bday party. I didnt like their style or music, so they kicked me out cuz I wasn't into the whole jumping thing while playing my bass XD.
So ya, doing visual kei would be awesome too!

Well, we sing in both and also we sing in Korean, Romanian and latin. We have three main singers (two of which are professinally trained vocalist^^). We call ourselves a J-Rock/ J-pop/ anime/ videogame cover band. We are not a J-rock band but we are an american group that covers that genre. Our "shitck", you could say, is that we try to cover songs, sometimes as accurate as possible, or by adding sometimes our own flavor, for the sake of performing and appreciating the music. Many of the artists that fuel our repetuare don't really come to the east coast (Massachusettts based) so we decided to take up playing the music ourselves^^.

I hope you like what you heard^^. There much more to come (look of "GO!", Sailormoon theme (with a twist *wink* and "Ready steady Go" in the next few weeks) We have about an hour set and right now, we are in the processes of recording more songs to put them on our website www.myspace.com/ikedakatsu .

Who knows what could happen. We were booked to play at Llamacon before it was postoned and we are know also looking to get other con gigs.

The comment about starting a J-Rock band in american is true...you need to be from Japan but a J-rock cover band is a whole different ball, friends. Its about the music (for us) then^^.

hm. you could be a diff. type of rock. my advice for you is to be as innovative as possible. perhaps to the point others follow. in fact, i would love to hear a song of yours once you hit it big, lol. the j-rock band idea is MAYBE a longshot, but since you're multilingual, i would recommend going by that.

You've got my support 100%. I play in a band that sort of does an ecclectic mix of music, but usually jazz and blues influenced, and somewhat jrock/anime influenced as well. Maybe we can tour together some day. (LOOOOONG shot) =3

To build a solid band.. whatever it is.. we need some motive among the member.. if you find those people..I think you have more chances to have a band.. J-rock or other kind of bands
