Just a quick question...

What is considered an acceptable image for a forum icon? Can it be anything (appropriate, of course) or does it need to be a picture of yourself/your costumes? Just wondering. =)

icevalkyrie7, we do not allow threads regarding school papers. They are very, VERY common, and at one point were taking over the threads. They tend to ask questions that have already been answered; a little forum searching should give you mountains of opinions for your research. If you feel your subject hasn't been covered and would like to repost your poll, feel free to do so and leave the "paper" part out.

I know there's a rule against using a copywritten drawn image as an icon... but can you upload an icon of an image you drew yourself? Like, a self-portrait drawing rather than a photograph?

For the forums? Just about anything that's appropriate. For the profile picture, it must be a picture of you (I believe in costume, though some photogs have pics of just themselves, so I'm not sure it's a requirement to be in costume for the profile icon. Probably, though.)

Nope. Costume/Profile icons must be a photo of you. Even original artwork is not allowed to be uploaded as either icons or photos.

Create a 200x200 pixel crop of a photo of yourself in an external photo editing program (though I know there are websites you can use as well), save it as a .jpg and upload it here.

Yeah, that really does not make me feel I'm friends with my friends. Where do I go to suggest the functionality? xD

Well... here. XD

I'm not sure how a Friends function would work with coscom's setup. There's also the ability to 'favorite' people, I think, but it still doesn't really do anything. It isn't like coscom has a facebook or blogging sort of setup where Friending would have a function.

I think it would make easier to communicate with our own local community ie. people that are from our area but that we found here and can't find anywhere else. Also for more people to meet other cosplayers that may be interested in participating in projects together. For some areas, specifically everywhere that is not the United States, it's complicated to arrange things through the fora or messages around here, and this could be the solution for some of us that prefer to stay away from our local OL community.

And a "friend" function never hurts anyone, I'd love to go out to my irl friends and say "oh, I added you as friend on coscom, accept me" xD xD

I think that's the purpose of the Critique board, I see a lot of threads there for that purpose.

Hey fellas.
Can someone help me out with this posting issue I'm having? I can't post a reply to anything... (In my original account, that is.) For some reason I'm getting the "you don't have permission to make posts" message. :/ I went down the list of possible reasons the message provided, and none of them apply to me... I can only assume my account has been locked for some reason.

Does anyone know if we are allowed to say, post information about a certain program in an upcoming con? I'm a director at Otakuthon and I was wondering if we are allowed to let people know about a certain activity at our convention.... or is that considered publicity? ugh... it might be poo...
