Like being modest and keeping your skirt at least a little under thigh height..( it really should be at knee-length tho.. )

Part of being loli is not to be afraid of what people are going to say, cause you will get so many mixed responses! So be comfortable with your style of lolita, but have some respect for the guidelines that were there when it was created ^-^

I hope that maybe someone will understand all that jumbo up there I just said! xD!
ohgod, some people just hate the fact that lolita skirts and dresses should fall no less than two inches above the knee~ It's just the fact that it's modest and franky, I don't want to see your ass thanks. XD

I agree with your whole comment, very well said.

Just wondering... but it this considered lolita, or ero-loli or something?

Technically, it's not, because it's obviously cosplay. However, if someone was just wearing that outfit, I'd still say it was too crazy to be normal clothing, so I'd still think it was cosplay. But if you were to maybe make the skirt a little less huge and black, ditch the fishnets and maybe the gloves, I'd say it was kind of ero-loli.

No, that's considered a cosplay.

If you did it exactly like the picture, it would be a cosplay. If you replaced the crazy skirt with cute bloomers and the fishnets with solid tights, it might be ero-lolita, if you made it with more muted colours.

Well it depends on what you're looking for. Of course you can go the route of brand- Metamorphose and Baby the Stars Shine Bright both ship outside of Japan. Or you could use Celga, the most reputable shipping service I know of to get things from a number of brands that don't ship outside of Japan.

There are also a few other online stores that are good, I've heard pretty good things about In the Starlight, and very good things about Fan Plus Friend and Candy Violet. You can go poke around at EGL Sales as well.

It's weird that you say anymore though, where did you find things before that you're having trouble with now?

I'm going to hijack this thread, instead of making a new one.

I need a little help. I've been trying to come up with an Aristocrat design, but I'm stuck on what to do with the skirt. I've seen a lot of tiered or just plain long skirts, but I think it might be too plain and wouldn't go well with what I have in mind for the top. Then I thought about doing a bustle style skirt, but thought it might be a bit much. There was something else I came up with, but I'm afraid it would look too costumey. So does anyone have any suggestions on making a non-boring/somewhat sophisticated/uncostumey type of skirt? XD

Also, is Aristocrat actually considered lolita? As in, if I went to a convention and tried to enter my outfit in a fashion contest, would they accept me, or would they laugh me out of the building? Sorry if this has already been answered, I didn't read through the whole thread.

Here are some examples that I think you could take inspiration from;
http://www.fanplusfriend.com/servlet...stocrat/Detail
(I don't much like the bright red ribbon though)
http://www.fanplusfriend.com/servlet...orgeous/Detail
http://www.fanplusfriend.com/servlet...-Bustle/Detail
(this one is my favorite of the three, I really think that something like this would look so classy with a long sleeved blouse, black opaque tights or black over the knee socks with a little bit of lace trim at the top with a cute platform or something~)

Aristocrat it definatly included in the lolita styles. I'd love to see it done because most of what you see is always sweet or gothic. I think they'd accept you!

(Good luck!)

Don't forget to replace 'lumberjacked!' with 'fan plus friend' (minus the spaces) in the links, guys. ^_^

Neko_Chan, none of those links work.

I did look at the fan plus friend site and got some good ideas, so thank you for that RikoBurandetsu!

I have two more questions before I go skipping off to the fabric store. What sort of fabric should I use? I know I need to use some sort of cottonsomethingorother, but apparently cotton fabrics don't comes as just cotton. XD Would broadcloth be ok or is that too cheap? Because I found this site where I can buy a whole mess of it for a discounted price and I know squat about different types of fabric.

Also, do tophats *have* to be mini, or is a decorated full size one accepted as well?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm determined to get this right the first time around.
