Resident Evil "Revival Selection" Announced for PS3/X360
Oh Capcom.
Oh Capcom. In this week's issue of Famitsu, Capcom has revealed that they will be releasing HD-remastered ports of both Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X and Resident Evil 4 in a bundle entitled "Resident Evil Revival Selection" for both the Playstation 3 and the X-Box 360. As far as we know at this point, there will be nothing new added to either game, and there has been no word yet as to whether or not Resident Evil 4 will support Move/Kinect functionality ala Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. While this is nothing new for Capcom, it is curious that HD-remastered ports seem to be all the rage these days. The God of War, Sly Cooper, Prince of Persia, and Splinter Cell series have all received HD facelifts for the current generation of consoles, and soon both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus will be given similar treatment with the Team ICO Collection. There have even been rumblings of a Metal Gear Solid HD collection. Have game companies, much like Hollywood, truly run out of original ideas? Or is this just a quick and easy way of funding their more expensive, higher profile releases? In related news, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D has been given a release date of June 2nd for Japan. Presumably the western release will follow shortly after. Click here for scans of both articles. Credit goes to Biohaze. |

This is not Resident Evil Outbreak 1+2 Capcom, I am dissapoint...
I would kill to be able to play Outbreak 1+2 again over the PSN.

Well one hand, it's kind of cool that thanks to PSN, you can kind of play all 6 "core" Resident Evil titles on one platform.
On the other hand, I don't care.

I'm likely one of the few with an interest in this. The HD remakes of God of War were fun to play, I've yet to try the Prince of Persia trilogy/Tomb Raider trilogy or the Splinter Cell one remastered in HD --- but I don't see this as entirely negative news.
On one part, not *all* gamers have played those games, making them more accessible is a good thing as far as I'm concerned and there's a whole lot of new releases every month for the rest of us. |

been a while since i was here but I just had to comment for some reason (I have nothing better to do)
Ahh Capcom...redoing/updating another RE game eh? it's the Star Wars of video game series. never change Capcom...Never change...though I hate to say it, yeah after playing RE4 on my GCN back and forth over two dozen time with a variety of combos and run-throughs, I am confident I can get every achievement for this...damn that felt dirty to say... ...seriously

I don't remember RE4 being so blurry.
Why don't they ever do RE2 or 3? I'd buy those. I'm not going to get RE4, but I'm kind of interested in CVX since I only have Code Veronica on the Dreamcast. |

My guess is it would be too difficult to properly upscale the prerendered backgrounds to HD. Both CVX and RE4 are fully 3D.

To be honest, I've been waiting for a true remake of Code Veronica. It's probably my favorite game in the series but with that said-- I think Archelon said everything I would have better and with (a little) less balking.
This is getting silly, Capcom. Really. |
