- You see a pile of insulation foam, cardboard, or broken furniture parts on the side of the road and think "Hmm. I wonder what props I can make with that..."

*constantly guilty and is probably going to bring some of said piles home one day*

^^ you see said piles and stop traffic to load them then end up finding bags of clothing which you search to further hold traffic

Very guilty
In CAII we've had to do 3 projects so far and I've done them all on cosplay/conventions. The way I see it... It's my senior year and I should do whatever I want. At least I had fun doing those projects

You know your a cosplayer when

You can look at your class mates and associate them by a certain character.

When your bored enough to attempt gravity defying hair and it works!

When you realize you have now sewing capabilities, and you just have to HAVE one outfit your character has.

Constantly play the game, watch the anime, and actually pull of writing a five page report on how they compare to Greek mythology. (guilty)

You can do said above ability now for everything you watch. (guilty)

join a cosplay group. (guilty)

More people know you by your cosplay alias then they do y our real name.

When people call you by your cosplay.com screen name.

When you see visions of the SHM dancing like sugar plum fairies.

When you instintivly see wood, pipes, scraps and stuff in other people's garbage and wonder what armor you can make and how many key-blades can you do.

When you should be applying for college but instead you use the application money for materials. (me right now)

You know your a cosplayer when:

-You practically live at your fabric/ craft store
- You no longer wear store bought cloths becuase you believe that their "over done"
- You go to the botrher of putting a stocking sock over your head to hide your identity and walk into a department store only to observe, measure, and steal the manican that is your size.

You know you're a cosplayer when...

-When someone runs toward you, you instantly prepare yourself to be glomped.. even when you're out of costume.

-One of your friends is a Yazoo cosplayer, and for his birthday, you give him a card reading "Happy birthday, brother!".

-You try to figure out how to get a crescent moon to stick to your cat's forehead without falling off, so you can use her as a prop.

-You've gone to the park in costume and had little kids say, "Look! They're playing Naruto!!"

-After the park, you all got hungry and went out to eat, where the waitresses argued over who would have to serve the weirdly-dressed people. When it was finally decided, your waitress came out and asked why you were dressed the way you were, because everyone was wondeing about you in the kitchen. Then they took pictures of you and put them on their bulletin board. You know you're a cosplayer when you find this highly amusing..

-Your mother has gotten past the point of thinking your hobby was weird, and has started suggesting costumes for you to make.

-You wish you had a cute younger sibling/kid just so you could dress them up as a cute, small character like Rin or Yachiru.

Y'know you're a cosplayer when not having enough funds and or materials for a cosplay depresses you because money is scarce and is needed for something else (like a replacement laptop hinge) *me right now*

You know you're a cosplayer when...

All of your photos on myspace, livejournal, etc. are cosplays.

You have modified your body, i.e. weight loss/gain, workout, to look more like the character.

You have molds of arms in your flesh from the amount of glomps you have received.

You have participated in a "You know you're a cosplayer when..." thread

True dat.

Also:

You know you're a cosplayer when you go to a knife shop (i.e: Excalibur Cutlery and Gifts) to look at katanas, realize that they're all to expensive, and storm out, muttering about how you can make them cheaper.

Totally guilty there. My uncle works for a metal fabrication company, so... yeah. I get stuff made all the time.

- when it's around Halloween time and you look at everyone's costume and go "psssh. i can make it better than that"

- when you feel guilty just walking down the Halloween aisle at the stores because you think people might think that you are actually going to buy a costume. Who heard of such a thing!?

You know you're a cosplayer when...

-In your closet you have boxes for shoes labeled cosplay shoes and ones labeled for normal wear.

-Every time you look foreward to watching an anime, reading a manga, or anything else is to see what new cosplay you'd like to do.

-You find a cute notebook you end up making it your cosplay notebook and list all the cosplays you want to complete in it.

You know you're a cosplayer when...

- Tiny details on your costume that are the slightest bit wonky drive you nuts.

- You notice infinitesimal differences in particular shades of colours in a costume, and worry about them.

- You spend hours on details that people will most probably not notice at all.

- You stay up until the wee hours of the morning sewing things by hand.

- You have brief amusing in-character conversations with con-friends.

- You have con-friends.

- In said such conversations you call a friend who is four years your elder "Dad" because of the characters you cosplay.

- You practice your character's mannerisms.

- You don't need to practice your character's mannerisms.

- You decide that it'd be really funny if someone came up to you at a con to talk to you, and you did what your character does when he's talked to. (In the game, Lloyd tips his head to the side and leans a hand on one of his sword sheaths.)

- You giggle about things like this even though it's probably only you that finds it funny, and even though people probably wouldn't notice it.

- You consider being mistaken for the opposite gender to be a compliment.

- You look at places outdoors and think 'that'd be a really nice place to take pictures!'
I'm so guilty of many of these lol...

Others have already said the mistaken for different gender / changing body type / money going to cosplay / participation in this thread.

There are so many different things people have said that are so true!

Just to reiterate - You know you're a cosplayer when more people know / call you by your Cosplay.com name or character name than they do your real one.

Got another one:

-You're completely "in character" the second you step in the doors (having worn your costume on the way, of course...), and don't get out of "it" until leaving on Sunday.

...You buy an anime you've never heard of to justify making a certain super awesome costume that you've seen someone else do from said series.
